Game number four in the pre-season is generally devoid of any significant drama. That was the case on the field Thursday night, where few Seahawks separated themselves from their competition. Off the field, however, plenty of intrigue was brewing. First, I eclipsed 100 followers on Twitter. People were talking...
How many yards will Matt Hasselbeck throw for this season? How many games will he play? It’s easy to make predictions, but why put in the effort when our friends in Vegas spend big money analyzing these things from all angles? The current over/under for Matt’s passing yards is...
One aspect of the 53-man roster decisions that is often over-looked is the practice squad. If you have two guys that are neck-and-neck, and one can be signed to the practice squad, that player will almost always be the one cut. Practice squad eligibility is far more complicated than...
Shocking. According to multiple reports, TJ Houshmandzadeh will not be a Seattle Seahawk this season. There has been talk about his vulnerability as early as the beginning of training camp, and reports of this trade/release scenario popped up as recently as yesterday. Still, it’s hard to fathom. Go back...
Come on in the chat room for the game. I may not be there until right at 7, but make yourself at home. Here’s the link: http://my.adobe.acrobat.com/hawkblogger Enter as a guest. I reserve the right to boot anyone that’s bugging me. 🙂...
I’ll be hosting a live chat for the final pre-season game tonight. I’ll post details closer to game time....
When news broke that Josh Wilson had been traded, it piqued my interest enough to see what we got in return. A conditional fifth-round choice, that could upgrade to a fourth based on playing time seemed a little below my expectations. On the roster Richter scale, this registered as...
The 53-man roster post is almost an obligation when you cover an NFL team. I hate obligations, so this will at least be an attempt to approach the same question from a different angle. Instead of breaking it up by position, let’s look at the team as if it...
On of the faithful 4 may just love sacks more than I do. The peerless Mr Posh has done some serious heavy lifting on the stat front, breaking down stats across the NFL over the past handful of seasons. Take a look at his spreadsheet here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Ahu3CB_rokzmdDB0emlpTGJDU3hDaUo0Z3Y0blZCZlE&output=html In particular, I...
I knew people were upset about the Wilson deal, but it still surprised me to hear it covered throughout the day on sports radio and in various news blogs as if we just traded a key member of the defense for a bag of chips. I am as frustrated by people’s...
I have been kicking this blog around for the last four years, writing is almost total anonymity. There are my faithful three readers, and a few transients, but it’s mostly just me and my laptop. That is, until tonight. It was the first day of school for both of...
